The Purim Festival in Tel Aviv
The Purim Festival is similar to Halloween in the Jewish tradition offering exciting festivities, celebrating a powerful story from the Book of Esther which speaks about the attempt by the Persian Empire to get rid of the Jewish people, and the failure that resulted.
If you love dressing up for Halloween then you will love the Purim Festival in Tel Aviv. The celebration comes from a story out of the Book of Esther which describes a failure by the Persian Empire to wipe out the Jewish people. The ancient story is celebrated with many festivities including dressing up in costumes on the days of the Purim Festival.
Do not be surprised if you see wild costumes of historical figures or imaginary characters roaming the streets during the Purim Festival. Colorful costumes will flood the streets on March 8-12, 2012.
